Today on our nation's 231st birthday, I must step forward and say that I am ashamed to be an American. It is painfully disheartening to admit the terrible state of our current health "care" system. The Statue of Liberty declares to the world, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..." Have we forgotten that promise? Countless insured Americans are going bankrupt every year just to keep up with their medical expenses. Even worse, Americans are dying because they cannot afford care and are denied help from both the insurance companies and hospitals. This is an embarrassment to our nation.
