Eric signed up for his first "race" yesterday. I say "race," because the first time is just a driver's education course. He loved it. Great.
He bought his '87 Porsche 924 last summer, and has spent countless hours out in the garage working on it to make it kosher for the track. We had a bit of a scare on Tuesday night... as he was driving around, what he thought was the transmission started making a terrible rattling sound. He had it towed to his mechanic and thought his plans to race on Saturday were dashed. Turns out, it was just a couple of bolts that came loose.
So, off he went. He headed up to the race track at Summit's Point, West Virginia early Saturday morning. The morning was spent in the classroom, then off to the track they went! He loved every second... even the seconds he spent spinning a bit out of control. Good thing that only happened a couple of times, and only when he was alone on the track!
I don't know if I'll be able to go out and watch him any time soon. Not because of restrictions, but because I don't think I can stand to watch him go whizzing around a race track with five or six other cars... yeesh! But, it's safer than the motorcycle he sold in order to buy the car!
Here's a proof of him flying around a bend. He's thrilled!
