Ramona Quimby, Age 8

Well, actually, just Ramona, age 5.



This is our new doggie! She's a greyhound rescue. She raced in Daytona for 2 years, running in 67 races and winning 14 of them. You can actually look up her pedigree and stats at Greyhound Data. Kind of fun! But we're so happy she's off the track and home with us :-)


So far, she loves her toys, she's excellent on lead, she's very curious, will do anything for food, and wants to be cuddled all the time. We love her... Hooray!

The Defenders

I was trying to avoid white...

... and while this isn't white, it's pretty damn close. But, it's so beautiful! What do you think? :-)

Busy

I painted our guest bedroom yesterday. It's pretty :-) Today I'll be painting our bedroom and finishing up the packing at our rental. The movers come tomorrow! Lots to do!!

Quick story

We had our closing at 2... got out around 4. Told our realtor we wanted champagne. She offered to buy some for us and meet us at the house. I told Eric he should carry me over the threshold. He did, we kissed. He told me he had a present for me. I said, oh dang, I didn't get anything for you. He said that was okay and pulled out the box. Oh, what might this be?

He says, "Well, I want to marry you. Would you like to marry me?"

Yes!

OMG

I'm a new homeowner!

And a fiancee!!

Boxes

We started packing yesterday. I think almost all of those boxes are just books. Books!

We're all set to close tomorrow! Eric just has to spend the morning finalizing the loan stuff and getting out all that money for closing costs. We're so excited! I can't believe that tomorrow evening, we'll own our own home!

I love my garden

It was such a beautiful weekend! On Sunday, I picked up a 4-pack of cilantro at the farmer's market. For some reason, I can never get my cilantro seeds to grow. I wanted to re-pot them into separate containers, and ended potting almost all of my garden! We're moving to the new house in 2 weeks, and there's no way I'm leaving my plants here!


The rose bush was definitely the most ornery about moving from the ground to a pot. My arms look like I got in a fight with an angry cat! I tried to take a picture of my scratches, but I failed.


I was sitting out on the front porch enjoying the weather, and I saw this on the ground. It took me a minute to figure out what it was.


Silly birdies. They really have trouble figuring out where to put their nest every spring. Last spring, they tried the bush to the side of our house. They survived long enough to hatch their eggs, but the momma died shortly thereafter (not sure if it was the neighbor's cat or our resident foxes) and the babies had no chance. Looks like we won't even have babies this time :-(


Here are my soon-to-be-yummy radishes. They're not yet big enough to pull.


Eric picked up some new seeds for me to plant when we get into our new place. We'll have lots of delicious, homemade salads this summer!

Beautiful Spring

Spring is here, the farmer's market has opened back up, and I'm one happy woman!

And, lest I forget, Happy Mother's Day to my momma, my sister, and the rest of you!

Gardening!

I'm so excited! This is my first ever 100% home-grown salad. Don't those greens look awesome? They taste awesome, too. And to think, I just walked into the backyard and cut the pieces I wanted to eat. Yum!

Countdown update

I have held my sweet Alivia!! Lots :-) She's such a wonderful baby. So sweet and cuddly.


Christina and Scott's wedding was beautiful. Her photographer is supposed to be putting their pics up at MelissaEPhotography... there's only one at my last check, though.


10 days until we close and get the keys.
40 days until school is out.
45 days until I leave for Korea.
53 days until Jen, Lance, and Alivia move out here.

I'll get on again this weekend... I just wanted to put a few pictures up!
