Something political!

This is William Shatner on Conan reciting some of Palin's farewell speech as a beat poem. It's funny.

Here's the excerpt from her speech that he uses:
... soaring through nature's finest show. Denali, the great one, soaring under the midnight sun. And then the extremes. In the winter time it's the frozen road that is competing with the view of ice fogged frigid beauty, the cold though, doesn't it split the Cheechakos from the Sourdoughs? And then in the summertime such extreme summertime about a hundred and fifty degrees hotter than just some months ago, than just some months from now, with fireweed blooming along the frost heaves and merciless rivers that are rushing and carving and reminding us that here, Mother Nature wins. It is as throughout all Alaska that big wild good life teeming along the road that is north to the future.

I got my shoes

$30 on eBay... nice. They're VIA SPIGA, and according to the seller, the MSRP is $215. Hey, I can wear a used pair of shoes for one day if it saves me almost $200!

Ramona and her rat

Ramona and I went on an adventure, today!

First, I had to deposit a check at the bank. The ATM was broken, so I had to go in to the teller. They said it was okay for me to bring Ramona in, so she learned all about the bank! Then, we went to the pet store where she got a treat, some more food, and a new toy that she picked out herself. A little rat. Oh boy!

Then, we went to go get some coffee at the Java Shack. She was quite popular there! We took the highway home, so she could feel the wind in her... lips? Teeth? Ears?

She's been playing with her rat non-stop since we got home about 15 min ago!

Seven Quick Takes

Okay, I was browsing around the internets reading blogs of people I don't know. I found one that was making me laugh, so I read a lot of it. Well, I learned about Seven Quick Takes, which apparently started here, where you post seven random paragraphs every Friday. I'm going to try it.

I get a phone call almost every single day from "Unavailable." I never answer the phone and they never leave a message. It's really very annoying. I pretty much never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, because I don't really care. Plus, when I first got this phone, I got calls and texts ALL THE TIME for this guy named Dennis. Sorry amigos, this is not Dennis' phone number anymore.

Since I cut my hair short back in January, I haven't been able to curl it like I used to. I've been letting it grow out for the wedding, though, so I tried curling it again today. It's... okay. But it makes me miss my long hair! It still only reaches my shoulders right now. You've got a lot of growing to do in the next 2 months, hair!

I've started watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey with my summer free time, and I'm totally hooked. I love the drama! I don't know what it is about the show - I don't relate at all, I think they're annoying, I can't stand superficiality, blah, blah, but I can't get enough! It's my guilty pleasure. I tried watching Atlanta and Orange County, but it's not the same. Good thing, or I'd have a lot more shows to watch!

During one of Ramona's many naps the other day, she started running in her sleep. It kind of made me laugh. So, not like sleepwalking, because she wasn't going anywhere, more like twitching. Her back legs were moving like she was running, but she was still just lying down sleeping. Most evenings if we take her into the backyard, she'll do a couple of laps around the yard. She's a fast girl! The other night, we started clapping while she was running, and it totally egged her on. She just kept running and running! She's fun.

I wish I was a runner. It's a great way to stay in shape, it's convenient, and it's free. But, I hate it. In fact, I hate every second of exercising. No matter how many weeks in a row I go or how many cool songs I collect on my iPod, I always hate exercise. I have never been able to get that runner's high. I just can't motivate myself to go for a run. I envy those that can just go out and run for miles. My sister is like that. Not me. At all. I'll do the aerobics games on my Wii Fit without complaint. I actually like the step dance game thing on there. And I'll go for an hour walk with the dog. But, no running.

You know what I do love? Avocadoes. YUM. If I could live on an avocado farm and eat avocadoes every single day, I would be a happy woman. Well, I'm already a happy woman, but wow, I would be blissful :-) Avocado sandwiches, salads, wraps, plain. I wonder if it's ever been the secret ingredient on the Iron Chef? I'll bet if they did use it, it was a delicious episode.

Caterers are expensive! That is by far the biggest expense of our wedding. By a lot. I mean, the catering is four times the cost of the venue. Wow! But, the menu will be to die for, and I won't have to make any of my family or friends clean up afterwards. So, it'll be worth it. Right? Sigh... when's the honeymoon?

I've been home from Korea for 13 days, and I haven't yet gotten around to posting much about the trip. It'll come, I'm just not feeling motivated right now! I'm definitely enjoying a few guilty pleasures on Bravo and Lifetime during the day, though!

I've been doing a ton of planning and organizing for the wedding. Originally, I told Eric that he had to plan it all, because he had specific ideas about what he wanted, and I was planning things to be a bit too casual for him. However, the teacher in me who wants to control everything came out, and I've kind of hijacked everything back. It's probably better this way, anyway, because I'm at home all day while Eric is at work. I still make him do anything that involves a phone call, but I'm the one tracking and organizing and making sure things are happening. Inevitable, I suppose!

We having our housewarming/engagement party this weekend. The house isn't completely unpacked, yet, but it's good enough. I just want to hang out with my friends! Plus, I'm super excited that my parents, brother, sister, brother-in-law, and niece will all be coming up for the party! Yay :-)

I found out a few days ago that my brother, Kevin, is moving out to VA in August. I'm so super excited for that! He's moving in with my parents, but hopefully he'll come up here a lot. I want him to find a job in my area.

My garden here is coming along very slowly. It's been REALLY humid here, lately, and I don't work so well in the humidity. I have a few bushes out front that I need to wrangle out before I plant the rest of my goodies, so that's waiting until a nicer day. I did plant my hibiscus last weekend and it's already started blooming. Keep in mind, a hibiscus flower is about 10" across - Beautiful!

I sure love this girl!

My sis, bro-in-law, and niece just moved from 3,000 miles away to only 100! I spent the weekend with them. Alivia has gotten so much bigger since the last time I saw her, 2 months ago! She is just the sweetest girl. She's not so cuddly anymore, but she is very curious and she just smiles and smiles!

A taste of Korea - wHOOL

This is an awesome Korean band that rocks out using traditional instruments. We got to see them perform while we were out in Korea. It was a great show!!

Also, I've uploaded all of my Korea pics to my online gallery. If you like looking through pictures, you can see Part 1 and Part 2 (I had too many to fit in one album). Otherwise, I'll be spending the next couple of weeks putting a few select images on here and re-capping the trip.

Anyeung haseyo!

Hello, from South Korea! I got a chance to borrow another woman's computer for the evening, so I thought I'd stop by the blog to let everyone know how I'm doing!

We've been here for 11 days, now. It's been super jam-packed, but really great! I will be sure to give you lots more information when I get home, load my pictures, and have some time to sit down and write.

Right now, we're at a 5-star Austrian-style ski chalet in the South Korean mountains. Of course, there's no snow here in July, but what a fun experience! The resort is rather stylish :-) Hotel Tirol, in Muju, if you're interested!

Tomorrow we're going down to Gyeong-ju, which is on the southeastern coast of the country.

Oh, and Happy Independence Day to all of my American readers! Which, I think is pretty much all of us :-)

I'll be coming home on Friday, July 10. More updates (and pictures) to come the following week!
