Sunday Sketches: Dress

Here is a sketch of a dress wanted to make a while back, but now I'm pregnant, and it's going to have to wait a bit! Maybe next spring...

Now, I just thought to myself, "Oh! I should see if there are some cute maternity patterns online." Well... maybe I'll have better luck in the store?

But these sure are cute!

  1. Oh, that's a very cute dress! Not great for a pregnant figure though, you're right. You probably won't find any cute maternity patterns but you can slightly alter a lot of regular patterns to fit if they have a flowing shape under the bust. The front should be made a little longer than the back. I made a lot of long baby doll tops and wore them with leggings when I was pregnant and didn't have to do real maternity clothes til the very end. That was so long ago!

  6. The dress you want to make is really cute, kind of reminds me of the 40's or 50's. Congrats on the baby and good luck finding clothes. The little girl outfits are adorable. Little girls are so much fun to dress up.

  8. fun to draw sketches of a dress you want to make. I suppose that is a good way of getting to know the design and if you want to make any changes.

  9. I like the bow in front, it's not too cute and quite right for the particular dress style.
