Tweet, tweet!

Hello!

So, while I still don't quite understand the purpose of twitter for myself, I thought it might be a fun and easy way to keep interested parties updated on the baby's status, so to speak.

I set up an account for the little one @elly_baby and plan to update maybe three times a week or so, as the mood strikes me.

I figure this would mostly be for my family, since they're probably the only ones who really care if baby is kicking at the moment (she's not), but if you're so inclined, feel free to follow on the right --->

Sunday Sketches: Flowers

Does it count as a Sunday Sketch if it's embroidered? I think so... I had to sketch it out before I stitched it!

Check out the other entries here.

PS. Did you see my burgeoning belly? SHE is only going to get bigger over the coming weeks!

PPS. The last time I visited my parents (for my baby brother's high school graduation!), my mom gave me an elephant that my grandma (Oma) knitted for either my sister or me (my mom thinks me, my sister thinks her) for the baby. HOW PERFECT, since I'm not only decorating with little elephants, but we're naming the baby after Oma. Happy tears :)

Growing, growing

I'm 19 weeks today. Here's an "encouraging" excerpt from my Baby Center email this week:
Think you're big now? You'll start growing even more rapidly in the weeks to come.
Wheeeeeee!

By the way, here's what s/he looks like right now (and 7 more days until we know if its a she or he!):

Sunday Sketches: Faces

I'm submitting something old to Sunday Sketches this week, because I'm suffering from my first major symptom of pregnancy (besides the growing belly).

So, the left pic is me at 15 weeks, not enjoying the fact that the belly was starting to stick out. The right pictures was taken THREE WEEKS LATER at 18 weeks. Um, growth spurt, much? No wonder I was eating everything in sight and napping twice a day!!

Oh yah, the pregnancy pain. Apparently, it's not uncommon to get carpal tunnel in one or both wrists while you're pregnant. YES! It's pretty much killing me right now and outside of wearing a wrist splint, there's basically nothing I can do but wait until it goes away on it's own once the baby comes. Hopefully it won't be this bad for the next 5 months!

So, here is an old sketch when I was trying to practice faces. Who knew the eyes went right in the center of the head?

Checking in

This will be a short one because I'm at work right now...
  1. For the last couple of weeks I've been trying to feel the baby move. The books say you'll feel it between 16-20 weeks, but for new moms, it could be as late as 24 weeks because you don't really know what you're feeling for. Every time I thougt I might have been feeling it, I was also a little gassy, so I wasn't sure. But, on Saturday I most definitely felt it moving for about 5 minutes straight. Yay! It was like little tiny gas bubbles popping. I've felt it lots since then, but I have to be quiet and still to notice it. I'm 18w2d now, so they're just going to get stronger and more frequent from here on out. I hope I still think it's cute 4 months from now when it's kicking my bladder!
  2. Speaking of the baby, we'll find out the gender on June 21. Yay! I.CAN'T.WAIT.
  3. Senior pranks this week have kicked me out of my room for 2 full days, now. First it was the fumes from the spray paint everywhere, and today it's a stanky, sulfuric, rotten egg smell that almost made me vomit a few times in about 5 minutes. So, back to the cafeteria we went for classes today.
The end.
