Growing Girl

Saturday morning we took the babe in to see the doc because she was having some skin issues on her bum and she cried for a couple of hours straight which she NEVER does. We got some stuff for her skin but we also got to check her weight - 16lb2oz! Such a big girl :)

Sunday Sketches: Van Gogh

Sunday Sketches!!

I finally got a chance to do some more painting. Last night, a friend and I went to a Living Social class called Sippin' and Paintin' where we got to have wine and get a lesson in painting. The subject was Van Gogh's Sunflowers.

It was so much fun!! Although I can't say the same for Eric's time alone with Elly. She had a ROUGH evening without Mommy... she basically cried the whole time I was gone. But, Baby and Daddy both survived, and I had a wonderful time.

My masterpiece!

+1, and Things I Know

Things I know about Elly:

  • Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk! I wish I knew what she was trying to say. But, I think I'm pretty good at guessing :)
  • This girl wants to be on the move! She kicks and kicks in an effort to get places. It hasn't worked yet, but I'll be surprised if she's not crawling within a month!
  • She is just so happy and very social. She smiles and laughs at every new face she sees, no matter how tired she is.
  • She rolls over both ways, now. I've checked in on her in her crib to find her sleeping sweetly on her tummy. Other times, though, she wakes up screaming when she realizes which direction she's facing.
  • Her feet and toes are now as active as her hands. She's constantly bringing her feet together, kicking and waving them around, and grabbing at her toes.
  • She reaches for anything she wants and tries to put it in her mouth. The best is when she reaches for Mommy or Daddy's face because that's what she wants right then. I think it's her own sweet way of hugging us and saying she loves us.
  • She has really become a cuddle-bug. She always liked being held, but now when she's being held upright, she'll lay her head down on your shoulder/chest and snuggle in for cuddles. It is SO sweet.
  • We've been letting her smell the different foods and spices we're cooking or eating. It's so fun to watch her face light up when she smells something she likes. Last night, she almost got her mouth around some chocolate fro-yo Mommy was letting her sniff!
  • Bath time is getting even more fun... and much more messy! She's learned how to splash water everywhere!
  • She's becoming proficient at the crocodile tears when she wants attention. It's still pretty cute :)
  • Her face is very expressive! She has a look for everything! It's fun to try to guess what she's thinking at any given time based on the look on her face. She also has very pouty lips and big, dazzling eyes.
  • Every day when I pick her up from the sitter, I say "Elly!" She laughs. Every time. Hearts and love! So happy to be her Mommy!!

Four Months

Elly turned four months way back on Feb. 20 and, while I was able to take her photos on the right day, I'm just now getting around to posting about it.

Here are her four month photos.

Things I know about Elly:

  • She is very laid-back and usually happy. She smiles and laughs at everyone and everything.
  • She does great at the sitter's during the day, and even naps in her Pack n Play!
  • She loves to be awake and will fight falling asleep. She's even started doing the cute, rub my eyes because I'm so tired, thing. Her naps will range in length from 15 minutes to 3 hours. And she usually wakes up perfectly rested from any of them.
  • She still really loves to cuddle with Mommy.
  • She now definitely knows and loves Daddy. She laughs and laughs whenever he's around.
  • Every now and then, I'll get a good belly laugh out of her. Sometimes she even snorts when she's really laughing hard. It is to die for.
  • She never really spent any time staring at her hands - she just started using them. She's grabbing at anything she finds interesting, as evidenced by the picture. It melts my heart when she reaches toward my face, because I'm what she wants right then.
  • She's much more tolerant of time on her tummy, now. Probably since she can roll over. She's also much stronger so I'm sure she doesn't get so tired while "exercising."
  • She's stopped sucking on her entire fist, and seems to prefer her thumb and index finger (at the same time). It looks like she's trying to whistle.
  • She is ADORED by all who meet her, most especially by her cousin, Alivia!
  • She's waking up more often during the night. I'm told if you google "4 month sleep regression," you'll find pages of info about it.
  • She is starting to drool a lot. My whole family were big droolers. Lucky trait to inherit!
  • She still loves bath time, but is getting a bit too big for her PUJ tub. However, she can't sit up on her own in the sink, yet, so we've tried different variations of tub and sink to find something that works.
  • Her thighs are deliciously chunky.
Oh! And her stats from her 4-month appointment are: 14 lb, 10 oz and 25 3/4 inches. She's moved up to about the 75th percentile for weight and 90th for height. Look out!
